We are honored to welcome Dr. Tom Catena, an American physician and humanitarian who has dedicated his life to serving the people of the Nuba Mountains in Sudan. As the only permanent doctor at the Mother of Mercy Hospital since 2008, Dr. Catena has provided care to thousands in one of the world’s most remote and war-torn regions, often working with limited resources and under great personal risk.

His extraordinary compassion and commitment earned him the Aurora Prize for Awakening Humanity, recognizing his selfless service to others. Today, as Chair of the Aurora Humanitarian Initiative, Dr. Catena continues to champion global efforts that bring hope, healing, and dignity to those in need.
